Thrift Shop Manager

Christ Lutheran School is a private elementary school of The Lutheran Church~Missouri Synod.

It is supported by its Thrift Shop at 607 1st Avenue, Rock Falls, IL 61071.

Position: Thrift Shop Manager

Hours: Minimum wage at maximum 19 hours weekly. Benefits not included.
Store hours currently Monday- Friday, 9:00-5:00, Saturday 9:00-12:00.

Qualifications: Good standing in a Christian church and reference from the Pastor Clear background check Physician’s written assurance of physical fitness Ability to recruit, train, schedule, supervise, inspire and retain volunteers Ability to use and train others in use of cash register, and daily reconciliation Ability to delegate and follow up to ensure completion of work Ability to plan store operations in advance of seasonal product changeover
Management experience in retail or related work.

Closing Date: March 15, 2021.

Daily: Collect mail. Ensure volunteer coverage during store hours.
Ensure cleanliness and security of facility. Make bank deposits.

Weekly: Ensure weekly sales hours Monitor sanitation and maintenance (furnace filter, floors, windows)
Implement policy
Conduct walk-through to monitor operations, communicate
Recruit and supervise volunteer expert valuation of high-value items and
online sales Monthly Submit written report to CLS Board of Directors Schedule volunteer staffing, removal of cardboard, sales (overstock, end of
season).
Implement computer-printed signage
Rotate seasonal stock, move rejected donations to storage for recycling pickup
Review policies, train volunteers, and supervise adhesion to policy

Quarterly: Update training on cash register and daily operations
Update policies in consultation with CLS Board of Directors

Semi-annually: Secure lawn mowing and snow removal
Break down cardboard and haul it away
Complete any additional required training
